Ruth Sheehan is not evil?
Ruth has a column out today entitled Star of a blogging drama, in which she speaks to the intense scrutiny being imposed by bloggers upon the rather suspect "aiding and abetting" charge brought by Der NiFuhrer's office against Reade Seligmann alibi-corroborator, Moezeldin Elmostafa. Ms. Sheehan alerts readers that "[e]very item in italics here comes from that alternate universe known as the blogosphere." There isn't, however, a single alphabetic character italicized within the body of the entire column. From a fair read if its totality, one is led to the reasonable conclusion that what Ruth intended to write is: "every item in quotation marks" was lifted from the "blogoshere." As I said in my comment to her blog entry entitled Yep, I'm just plain evil, it is particularly important to note that the sentence with which Ms. Sheehan concludes today's column:
Bring in the feds! (exclamation point hers)
is neither italicized, nor embraced by quotation marks and, as such, must be fairly read as her personal sentiment.
Continuing from my "comment":
"Thank you, Ruth!
While atonement might be late in coming, few would deny that Ms. Sheehan's latest several offerings have indicated that she has "seen the light" of the Durham Political Corruption & Media Hoax, is eating her crow with dignity, and, more importantly, trying in her way to counter-balance terrible injustices caused, in no small part, by her early writings about the Durham Political Corruption & Media Hoax or, as it was then known, due, in no small part, to her early writings, the Duke "Rape" case."
I don't believe Ms. Sheehan molests collies any more than I believe she is evil.
Emotionally driven in an occupation that calls for analytical detachment? Yep.
Short on patience in an occupation that demands the time consumption necessarily attending that pesky confirmation of "facts?" Yep.
Quick on the trigger? Yep.
Evil? I don't think so. And won't, unless she issues a correction to today's column to the effect that the call to Bring in the feds! is not hers, after all, but merely the paranoid ramblings of some "garbage" spewing blogger.
